Ever since its foundation, ACB's first aim was to protect all professionals in the insurance brokerage field and, as a consequence, the final users of the insurance product/policy.

The Association immediately acquired high-quality professional standards and admitted both single professionals and small and medium brokerage Companies, as well as brokers employed by the main Insurance Companies operating in our Country.

One of ACB's first activities was to receive the acceptance of the Institutions. These soon acknowledged the importance of the Association's aims and the high professional qualities of its members (although at the time they were a small number), and therefore had no difficulty in accepting ACB as a further interlocutor and category representative.

The studies, the proposals, the meetings and the participation in debates lead the Association to put forward a proposal to modify Law 792/84, which was establishing the National Brokers Register.

In the meantime, thanks to the activities carried out by the Association, and to their highly professional contents, ACB was to be recruited amongst the members of B.I.P.A.R., an International Board of Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers, which today groups approximately 50 countries.

Today ACB constitutes a National Board/Association of Category, acknowledged by Institutions and ISVAP, able to represent through its associate members approximately a 30% share of the insurance broker market and in continuous growth, also thanks to the introduction of statutory modifications, which allow membership even for those professionals registered under R.U.I.'s Section E.

In its almost 15 years of activity ACB has always distinguished itself for being a transparent and reliable interlocutor towards Institutions and other field and consumer associations, thanks to the firm and full cooperation in public debates and work-tables/shops.

Amongst the top initiatives promoted by ACB, the following are worth underlining:

  • - the recent intervention alongside of the Antitrust authority against the alterations concerning multi-mandates and annual right of withdrawl/recess in multi-annual insurance contracts;
  • - the protection of Italian brokers and equality of their rights, in order for them to be able to operate in other European countries;
  • - the creation of the category's first complementary insurance fund programme, called PREVIBROKER, and its present updating in accordance with the rules concerning the destination of TFR;
  • - the statement before the European Commission for the correct and prompt reception in our Country of the European Directive 2002/92/CE concerning intermediation.

Within its activities and services, ACB in particular offers its associates:

  • - a web-site (www.acbbroker.it) providing files and updates in legal and procedural matters, in support of professionals' and brokerage companies' work;
  • - legal and judiciary support for free-lance professionals, through the association's expert lawyers;
  • - associate professionals' training and updating, through the creation of e-learning and more traditional courses, either in order to teach junior brokers or in order to allow members to respect the standards set by ISVAP (Insurance watch-dog);
  • - the organization of workshops and conventions/meetings devoted to topics of great interest for the field.
